What do you deep fry?
I was wondering what everybody else deep fries.
We have deep fried fish, onions, cheese sticks, pickles, that have been dipped in batter. We have even done franks, without a batter.

I made some doughnuts last week, but they didn't turn out to be very tasty.
Once in a while I'll cut some potatoes into wedges and deep fry them. Yum!

To be honest, I don't!!
edited to add that it's not that I never eat fried food, I just never make the fried food!

Fries.
I gave up trying to batter and deep fry fish. The batter always explodes off, no matter how dry I think the fish is.
My deep fryer is hibernating at the moment because I am losing weight.
Hubby deep fries breakfast sausages and hash brown patties. Mostly we just have a deep fryer for making french fries though.
Oh, my daughter makes beignets from time to time

I never thought of deep frying pickles, hmm, must try them!!
I've done lots of junk food - oreos, twinkies, and then the usuals that were mentioned above already

Well, I guess I've been living in a cave, because I'd never heard of fried pickles or fried Twinkies until the past year or so.
The first time someone mentioned fried Twinkies, I thought it was a joke. Then I thought, "so THAT'S how you make a nutritionally void food even worse for you". So I need to know how to make them. Do you dip them in a special batter first?

I use this for the twinkies:
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon malt vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1-1/2 cup water

Do you mix it all together, dip the Twinkies in it then drop them in the hot oil?
They're low calorie and fat-free, right?
