Default What's for Dinner tonight??

I'm making spaghetti & meatballs (again!), I put in my meatballs onion soup mix, little bit of marinara sauce, black pepper, 2 eggs, & bread crumbs - comes out really yummy!

I think I will give that a try but with turkey (I dont eat red meat or pork) so thanks!

The last half dozens dinner attempts have been horrible. I think these poor kids are giving up on me. I hope you dont mind me taking your thread sort of off topic.. but if you (or anyone) knows of a website that specializes in say five ingredients or less recipes i let me know. I think I have to start with easier recipes. I come from a long line of ..um lousy cooks..but theres hope for me yet

tonight I am going with a proven winner and that the chicken breast cooked with whole berry cranberry sauce mixed with onion soup mix and catalina dressing ..not super healthy but they do love it.

There's a show on the Food Network called 5 ingredient fix. I'll be honest, I haven't watched it, but you might want to check out some of the recipes.

Also, on recipezaar, (and probably other sites as well) you can search for recipes using 5 ingredients or less. You can narrow the choices by category.

I'm sure there are cookbooks out there along those lines as well. You might be able to find some at the library to look through.

I love recipes with only a few ingredients - so easy! There's a site also where you type in ingredients you have in your house and they give you recipes.

My husband is not very subtle. He bought me a '4 ingredient' cookbook called Kitchen Klutz (or something like that.) It is full of funny stories of kitchen mishaps, and it is illustrated by the woman who does the "For Better or Worse" comic strip. (Lynn Johnson???) I looked on amazon and couldn't find it) I forgot I had it. I should dig it out...... I'm not a good cook, and I don't enjoy trying.
I haven't got a clue what we are having for dinner tonight.

I made some rice..threw some chkn bouillion in there halfway and then at the last minute I threw in some very finely grated carrot and sharp cheese.

It was pretty freaking great..and the kids didnt detect the cooked carrot

the kids had chicken nuggets and "potato chips" Thin slices of potatos covered in olive oil, salt and a bit of garlic, Baked for 10 mins at 400 then 5 mins in the broiler on high.

I used my food processor to cut the potatos.

Those chips sound good. And fairly "figure friendly"!
We had some crap I created with diced chicken, water chestnuts, rice and corn. Not super tasty. Tomorrow we will be havign spaghetti to make up for it

Nah, the book wouldn't get him a trip to the couch. One of the main reasons he picked it up was because it was funny and I like the illustrator. He once sat on the floor of a book store trying to find me "the perfect" cookbook when we were first married (over 17 years ago). Apparently he sat there for about an hour and finally settled on The Joy Of Cooking. And he was being nice, not being a jerk. I didn't know how to cook at all when we were first married and I was actually trying. I still have it, reference it frequently and need to learn how to re-attach the cover and the pages that have fallen out!

Now I just cook because we need to eat. There are a few things that I cook well -company gets those! But on the whole, I don't enjoy it.

I do, however love baking! (part of the reason I need to lose weight LOL)

I love baking too. I have a very old cookbook where the measurements dont make any sense to me- and tells me to put it in the icebox. Recipes that require four days and three hundred ingredients

today I made this breakfast skillet "thing" but its just so unhealthy. Its basically just homefries cooked in bacon grease and then you slop some shredded cheese egg and bacon on top. I do not eat bacon so I have no idea how this tasted and everyone here is too scared to give me any constructive criticism
