Smile Nice to meet you!

Hello! I am a grad student and unemployed teacher. I consider myself to be pretty crafty, and I dabble in a lot... gourmet cooking (usually French, but I do like southern cooking as well), baking, sewing, watercolor painting, interior design, gardening, crafts of all kinds. I live in sunny Florida, where I love my garden and all things local. I love the southern and European influences in the part of the state that I live in. I'm a Canadian-American, and that influences some of the things that I create. I am very close to my family, and my cousins are two of my very best friends.

I recently started blogging about the things I make, but haven't really shared it with anyone yet. So... I guess this might be a good place to share? I really wanted to have easy-to-do projects that weren't too expensive and that had straight-forward directions accompanied by pictures. So I have tried to create that here.

Thanks for reading this post, and please, tell me about you and what you like to make!

That's an excellent laundry bag - such a good idea. I have been looking for a wall mounted one as I have no floor space available. But I'm thinking now the bag is better. What I would really like is a bag that hangs on the back of the door with the top flap open. I'm lucky if my family puts their dirty clothes anywhere near the basket - so opening a bag would be simply beyond them. Perhaps I can modify your design somehow. Thanks again. My blog is below if you're interested...

Welcome to the forum scratch!
I'm still half-asleep but I'll check out your blog when I am more awake to give it the attention it deserves.

Edited to add: Your blog is looking good. I like that laundry bag.

Welcome to the Craft Forum Scratch. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your work.

I can't wait to try your broccoli and corn recipes. It made me hungry just reading them.

Hi Scratch, and welcome!

Another blog to read? AWESOME!

ETA: We're in similar boats actually. I'm also unemployed (retail management tho) and trying to make some $$ with my jewelry making. Thus far, farmers markets have been a waste of my time and money. Online sales are starting to pick up but not much. Weekend festivals have been slower than last year, so not promising. But I'm going to be teaching jewelry making starting next month, and I got into a couple of well-attended holiday festivals. So hope fully things will be looking up soon.

You make so many things, are you going to keep generalizing or pick a couple of complimentary things to focus on?

Thank you so much for all your input on my blog, as well as for sharing your own interests!

melsbells, right now (since I've just started the blog), I'm kind of focusing on all the many things that I enjoy making. If I get more readers and through feedback find that people prefer maybe sewing to cooking (or anything else), I would definitely focus on that more.

Also, before I started blogging, I looked around and I couldn't find any blogs that covered crafts, sewing, decorating, and cooking. So the initial idea that I had was to create something that would appeal to a wide variety of creative people. Mainly, I really want to just offer ideas for projects that don't cost too much money, that don't take an incredible amount of time, and that are fairly easy to make.

I'm gonna say I love the jars! I don't want to be reminded of laundry. The bag is nice and I so enjoyed reading this morning before heading to school.

Welcome to the madness and if you are a teacher, you know what I'm talking about!
