Default How do I mount a picture on foamcore?

Does anybody know how to do this that can give me a very short lesson in mounting? Can I just glue the picture to the foamcore?

I'm trying to put together an entry for our county fair, and they say we can't use frames but we can mount them on foamcore. I have three pictures, a sheet of foamcore and a spray adhesive. Will this do?

Spray adhesive, depending on the brand can be corrosive to the foam core. My suggestion is to try mounting a piece of paper on a scrap of foam core to see what effect the glue will have. If you spray the back of the photo, and let the glue dry for approximately 3 minutes before applying it, the glue will not be as liquid and may reduce the effects of any chemical corrosion. Other than that, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Just test it first.

What I have is Elmer's spray adhesive, but I will test before I put it together.

Thanks for the suggestion.

That is the same stuff that I use and it is pretty generic. I can't see it eating the foam core.

You're discussing glue...
Does that mean that you two are bonding?

Sorry.... it's late... I'm tired..... I'm going to bed now.

ROFLMBO!! ....................

Good one Angela!

Pinokeeo, is this a picture that you want to keep forever? If so, you'll want to use an acid free adhesive to stick it on a piece of acid/lignin free card stock before you glue it to the foam.

Another option would be to use decorative push pins at all 4 corners of the picture. Or a pretty coordinating button glued onto a thumb tack instead of push pins?

You can also find 'Glue Dots' at a craft store. They stick to ANYTHING.

Oh my gosh, this group gets crazier and crazier. Angela, that was hilarious.

I didn't even think about using glue dots. The bad thing is that they require you to use photo paper. I was going to print them out on this really nice photo paper, but my printer decided to not co-operate. I had to have the photos in today. Didn't happen.

So I'm going to save up my money and buy another printer. Then I'm going to try this so that next year I'll be ready. It's all experimental from here.

I have the pictures saved on my computer and on my camera card, so I can play with them all I want until I get something that works.

So, thanks for the advice everybody. I'm taking notes here.

So sorry to hear you missed out. But it'll be twice as much fun next year.

That sucks about your printer not cooperating.
But you can "stalk" the fair this year and see what people did that worked and what didn't and incorporate that into next year's entry!
Since you have tons of time you might be able to get the pictures printed at a photo place and be sure of quality prints. (it wouldn't require as much saving up either.)
