Thanks Angela. I was thinking it wouldn't take long for you guys to get there from Toronto, but it looks like a pretty long drive. I doubt it would be worth it, unless there were other things to do along the way.

I'll just visit through your fantastic pictures!

My daily project was completed on January 25, 2012, but you can still visit my blog The Daily Turtle if you would like to see my adventures making or photographing a turtle every day for a year.
Very beautiful pictures! I love all the homes and the pictures of the boats!
My parents took my sister and I there when we went to meet family in Michigan once. We toured part of the island saw lots of areas in Michigan while we were there. Did you go to the fort there? Can't remember the name though.. definitely brings back a few memories!
Awesome pictures though!!

Ah, thank you! I couldn't remember the names LOL. My dad was born in Menominee (not sure if you know where that is..near a Wisconsin border) Michigan. They would spend the summers in Menominee and the other seasons up in Houghton while his dad went to college.. He became a chemical engineer. After that they moved around..Chicago then New York. He spent most of his later childhood and teens in Western NY. That's where he met my mom. It's also where they settled.
Oh boy. I was experimenting with the edit features, trying to make the top of the picture even with the horizon. I guess 'skew' wasn't the feature I was looking for. If I had hit that button one more time, I think those guys would have fallen off their boat.
I think the yellow and white tent in the background is where the Chicago Yacht Club guys sit to set off a cannon every time someone crosses the finish line, which I believe was in front of the Round Island Lighthouse.
