Default photo editing software?

which one do use like and use? I am considering upgrading to a better system. Right now I use the package that came with my camera.

My main interest is taking pictures of babies and children (at rest and play).

Thanks!

Lots to choose from, from free to super expensive....
I like PhotoFiltre, (Barb has a copy of the free version install file)
and PaintShopPro about the best. You might try GIMP too.

I have Photoshop CS2, and I LOVE it!!

Also Photobucket has some pretty good editing for free on their site. Flickr also has good editing, but you can only use some of the features unless you upgrade. You can add text, crop, change colors, etc though so it's pretty nice

Adobe (Photoshop) has a huge learning curve.... that and the price makes it prohibitive to most beginners. My biggest complaint is the !@#@! UPDATES! EVERY time they 'updated' it, everything you took weeks to learn how to use has been moved or is simply not there any more!!! Boy, don't get me started on Adobe stuff..... lol
Plenty of fantastic freeware out there. gimp, photofiltre, 2020, etc.

I have CS2 as well and love it. Yes it takes alot to learn but I found it easier than GIMP. Maybe because there are so many tuts out there. I also have Lightroom 2.0 as I work in all RAW photos.

PaintshopPro was nice but I didn't feel I had as much control as I do with photoshop.
Google as Picassa that is free and should help you do alot with your photos. I used it a lot until I got CS2.

I have psp 7 and 8 with eye candy and have no clue how to use it. I would love to at least learn how to take the background out of pics of my mosaic and jewelry. I tried using the one from google but it didn't do a very good job for me. I think I need to be able to hold something in my hand to do it, moving the mouse around just doesn't get it LOL.
Good luck, hope you find something you can use.

Adobe CS3 at home and CS4 at work. It does have a learning curve, but there is SO much you can do with it, and tons of free tutorials online.

Thanks for all the great advice. I sounds as if
Photoshop CS2 is probably the best one to use.

www.picnik.com is good for a free photo editing site. Also has a small fee for great add-ons.
