Is this something you think you will be making as your career for the long run? Where are you going to school. Dd (turning 17 in June) thinks she can go out there, take some pictures and start making money. What advice do you have for an almost 17 year old.
Thanks so much!!

I dont believe any art can come naturally though composition and a since for design and color cordination I suppose can. There are diffent tequniques to be learnt and most importantly a lot to be learnt about equipment. I suggest that she start by taking photography in high school. Interning with a pro in your area will help her learn a little about the business end of it. Thats another thing she has to know how to run a business. There are laws and other things she should know because people will try to cheat you out of your work. It has happend to me a few times. I am currently just going to a community college with plans to transfer to a art institute. All of my profesors are working photographers. Its nice to get instruction from someone that has been there. Also a warning to you this will be expencive. She will need a DSLR (or if she wants to work with film a SLR) & accesorys (flash, filters, ect), Some sort of editing program, & eventually she may want some studio lights. If you want to know what the cheepest starter equipment is or have any other questions then PM me.
