Those are so beautiful! But I am not sure I have the patience to do them.

Is there one that you have tried that would be a good "starter" snowflake?

I haven't done many of these patterns - I just keep collecting them . This one looks like it might be all or mostly chain stitches (no picots), so it might be a good one to try first:

I used to crochet thread snowflakes but I hate the idea of starching them I need to make some snowflakes for the Cerebral Palsy Festival of Trees. I think it will be held at the Cradle of Aviation on Long Island, NY before Christmas. My orgainzation will be decorating one of the large trees. These trees are purchased by large organizations sometimes for $10,000. I would like to know if someone has some patterns using regular yarn instead of thread. I can also use plastic canvas patterns as well. The finished snowflakes should be approximately 3" to 5".
