Default Crochet Edging for Blanket

I have a very basic understanding of crochet and would like to crochet an edging on a baby blanket. I found a blanket on etsy with edging that I LOVE. It looks pretty simple and I was hoping that one of you more experienced crocheters may be able to tell me how it is done.

I have crocheted an afghan before, so I understand how to read crochet patterns and the abbreviations... I think.

Here's a link to the blanket with the edging:

That's a basic granny stitch, a cluster of 3 dc's and a ch 1. I think the best way to start would be single crochet around the blanket using a small hook so it can pierce the blanket. Then change to the hook size suitable for the type of yarn you are using, then ch 3 (counts as the 1st dc) in the 1st sc, ch 1 , sk 2 sc, 3 dc in the 3rd ch, ch 1 and repeat around making 3 dc ch 2 3 dc in the corners. If you've ever made a granny square you will have no trouble with this. It looks like this patern was repeated for 2 more rows and then on the last row, just sc in each dc and ch 1 space. I hope this helps you.

Thank you!!! I'm sure it will make sense as soon as I dig out the crochet hook and yarn and give it a try. I figure things out better by doing than just reading, but your instructions seemed fairly easy.

Thanks again!

If you run into any problems, let me know and maybe I can try to clarify my instructions.
