Default my current afghan project

My nephew is on his high school's football team again this year (sophmore). His mom (my sister) decided she wanted a "stadium blanket" that could double as a seat cushion when it was too hot to have it cover them. She asked if I could work up a crocheted blanket with the school colors and if there was a way to do the teams logo on the blanket. So I pulled out my graph paper, printed of a copy of the logo, and had fun coloring squares. Then I counted the squares. Now, I am crocheting. It is coming along quite nicely. The colors are a perfect match to my nephews uniform. Navy blue and gold - with white as an accent color.

The first picture is of my nephew's uniform showing the logo. Then pictures of the blanket as it has progressed.

Nice job! It's looking great!

It looks like a lot of work. A lot of confusing work with all of those different rolls of yarn.

Thanks for posting!

Wow that is looking good. I can tell where the logo is! I'm with Barb. It looks awfully confusing to me. I hope your sister understands and appreciates the amount of work you are putting into this!

Dumb question of the day: What is a sophmore? We just go by grades here. My daughter is going into grade twelve.... I'm pretty sure freshman is grade nine. I think.

Sophmore is 10th grade.

Yes it is confusing with all the different strands coming off it, but I couldn't carry the yarn. The two colors are different enough that you could see the blue under the yellow and the yellow under the blue - it was not a pretty sight. So, I drop the blue and pick up yellow, and vice versa. Of course, then, I have to pull the color through the last stitch so it is up ready for the next row. Can't pull a whole skein through, so I have a nice long strand that I pull through, wrap around my fingers, and clip with a clothespin. It takes almost as long to pull the yarns through each row as it does to crochet the row!

Oh man....that's going to be really nice! Great job!

I've made some Florida Gator ones, but it was easier! I just used orange and blue granny squares. That will be really nice and WARM!

That's turning out very nice. I hope you are recording what you do. Possibly even making a pattern, because when the other parents see this one, you know the orders are going to start pouring in.

It looks great. I agree it's confusing and it looks very time consuming. I'm sure she will appreciate it.

Take lots of pictures when it's done.

Intarsia?!? Is that what I'm doing? I thought I was just crocheting!

I have now passed the halfway point of the design. (YEAH!!!) You can see where the S curves around behind the center of the M to set it apart and make it look like a V. "Shadow Mountain" and "Victory" is what the logo represents, so the have the S curve around and M also represents the V.
