Default Show and tell

We wanted this crochet forum, so let's see some more postings. Perhaps you can tell us what you are working on and possible post some pictures of some of the things you've crocheted. Do you do any charity crocheting? Who is into amigurumis or other crocheted toys and dolls? What types of things do you like to crochet?
Also if you find some blogs with free patterns, perhaps you can post the links for us.

I just finished a hat for my sister's birthday. Pattern can be found here: http://www.caron.com/projects/q/q_Q10_peruvian_hat.html. Actually the picture is of one I made a year ago, but it was too small for her so I had to make it again (it's in the same colors and looks identical).

I have only been crocheting for five years, but so far I haven't found a type of crocheting that I don't like! I have done afghans, squares, bags, amigurumis (those are fun!), a cardigan sweater, a bath mat (started a second), scarves, headbands, shawls, scrubbies, doilies and snowflakes.

That granny afghan is coming out quite nice. I've also done many granny square afghans using up small balls of yarn left over from other projects. I didn't bother to make a border around them. I usually slip stitch them together by going through the back loop. It creates a nice ridge around each square.
Currently I am making an afghan using a tier drop stitch in navy, white and blue. It's coming out very nicely. This is for a charity group that I do a lot of crafing for.

Yes, I've been doing some reading on joining granny squares. The slip stitching is one method I was considering. I did read it makes a nice edge. I've also seen that you can chain a couple times between each stitch to make lacier, looser seams. Other than that, the old yarn needle is a possibility. I believe it was called "lacing" with a needle.

Anyone else have preferences on joining grannys?

Oh, and mommarose, I love that magazine holder made from recycled paper in your link!

I used to "weave" the edges together. I believe they call it a ladder stitch. This is preferable to overcasting. I like the slip stitch as it has a stretch to it and it doesn't cause puckering of the squares like overcasting might do if it isn't loose enough. Some people might not like the slip stitch becuase it isn't flat, in that case the ladder stitch might be preferable.

Oh cnuland,

I like that hat. I have been looking for something like that to do for my young boys. I might give it a try. Thanks for posting the link to the instructions.

Most of my crochet has left the house as gifts, and I just started taking pictures of my crafty items... but I did find this picture of the back of a hat I made for DD... it used to have a crochet flower on top , but the dog ate it .
