Is it possible to crochet socks to rival knitted socks? I've only encountered a couple of patterns, but the result was a bulky sock. I'd like to have something to wear with shoes.

I'd think using a cotton 8(it's a smaller thread) with a small crocheting needle might help. I'm not an expert by no means. Just throwing that out there.
