Default Stuffing crocheted animals

Hi. I'm interested in hearing from anyone that has kept the white stuffing from showing in crochet stuffed animal projects. Any ideas?

Marty

It all depends on the pattern you use. My Mom has done stuffed stuff. Usually, just use single crochets and a smaller hook so the stitches are nice and tight. Also, when you stuff, don't overstuff. If you try to put too much stuffing in, it will stretch the stitches.

Hi Turtle Lady! We have another "turtle lady" here, but she goes by "Angela". Totally off topic here, but are you a big turtle collector? Have you crocheted stuffed turtles?

Like previously said you need to use a small hook size say 3mm or 3.5mm

Keep the tension high and problem solved

If your having difficulty checkout these Link Removed

The trick is to crochet really tight. I've made my share of stuffies. My daughter sometimes helps me by knitting some animals and I assemble, stuff and add the features. You also have to be careful that stuffing doesn't poke out from the seams. How do you sew up the seams? I like to use the ladder stitch (or what I used to call the weaving stitch), It is similar to the stitch upholsters use. I prefer it to overcasting.

Crochet very tight and then if you want, use a section of pantyhose..insert it in the body of the stuffie then stuff the fiberfill INSIDE The pantyhose (try to match the hose to the color of the yarn). Viola..the stuffing wont come out. But yes, tight stitches and small hook.
