Last year my "volunteer crafting ladies" group received a donation of Aunt Lydias craft yarn. I made a few bags from them and lined them.
Recently a local yarn and knitting shop donated some fine yarns and ribbon yarns. I made a scarf from one of the yarns and the woman who bought it liked it so much she ordered 2 more. I had just enough to make the 2 more with just a little left over. The yarn cost about $10. ball and it takes 3 balls. Because the yarn was donated we sold it for much less than the cost of the yarn. From the ribbon (which was marked $13. each ball) I crocheted a striped ivory and variegated brown scarf that came out quite nice.

I bought an awesome pattern for slippers on etsy, so that's what I've made lately. Actually, I just picked up crocheting, so it's pretty much the only thing I've done Then I crocheted a scarf for Craft Hope, and now I'm working on a blanket. I'm so glad I taught myself to crochet - I've done a bit of knitting, but I find crocheting so much faster - and that's good, because I get impatient when it takes too long to finish a project! The slippers were the perfect thing for me to learn on!

I would love to hear more about how she used the scarves to benefit the SO. Such a worthy cause! I have a child with DS. Could you please let me know more about how that works?

Thanks!

We don't belong to any organization but this year just before Olympics started they were short scarves so they asked through TV and radio volunteers to make scarves. So that is how she participate.

Me too it's always nice to see someone else enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed making it.

I don't sell my crafts, but I donate my services to a Charity Crafting group. We make all sorts of stuff that is sold and the profits go to several charities. We crochet, knit sew, do plastic canvas and do all sorts of general crafts. I do mostly crocheting, plastic canvas, some sewing and general craft type stuff. Although I know how to knit, I have my daughter knit some toy animals which I assemble, stuff and put facial features on them. They usually sell quite well.
