Barb, do you think hot glue would hold the bottom on?
did you check the campbell's chunky soups and the dole canned pineapple? Those are the ones that have the pop lids around here.

Well, it was a really quick peek in the veggie section.....
I probably wouldn't have bothered even looking in the soup section because I don't care for soup.... (but maybe I'll force the kids to have some!! ) I will DEFINITELY check the pineapple.
Oh. I just had a thought! My in-laws live with us.... They eat soup.... I may have to raid their cupboard! That would be even easier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Either way, it sounds like I'll get my hands on some cans. I want two at least. Might as well make something for the girls! (maybe even three -and put a treat in for hubby, even though he knows about this challenge)
Thanks for the tidbit of information! (did you notice that very subtle pineapple reference? )

A lot of the off-brand cans of soup & fruit have them too (because they're made by the name-brand companies?)

I don't blame you for not wanting to use a cat food can. Man! I hate the smell of that stuff. Except for the kind that's in 'gravy', that doesn't smell as bad.

It seems like hot glue would work. I've never tried it. It would probably ooze out when you push the lid back on, but you'd just have to trim it off.

For a husband or boyfriend who likes tools and diy stuff, I think it would be fun to put a gift card to a local hardware store and a couple small tools or gadgets in the can. Then wrap it with duct tape which, conveniently, would also hold the lid on.

I've seen them at Target, Meijer, Kmart, Kohl's, Bed Bath & Beyond and a few other places.

Mine is from Pampered Chef and I'm not saying there's is no good, but I'm not happy with it. I have to go around the lid 3 or 4 times and even then it doesn't usually cut all the way.

I got my can opener at Walmart. It is a Star Frit. It is crapping out now, but it is about ten years old.

I was in the grocery store quickly yesterday. I'll still take a GOOD look on Thursday, but Dole pineapples here don't have a pull tab. Chunky soup does, but I don't want any chunky soup. At over two-fifty a can, it has to be something I will enjoy eating. I saw a can of chili I was willing to try, but the bottom of the can was one of those rounded, stackable type that I am sure the can opener can't work on. Maybe I'll spring for Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee. My only fear with that is that my daughter will like it too much and not go back to the generic type!! HOWEVER, all hope is not lost yet because I only looked real quick because I only had ten minutes to pick my daughter up.

I was thinking we could do it with a regular can even if no pull tab, they would just have to use the can opener to open it, but still a very cute idea
