I believe that this fits the theme because I made sure that I had it finished in time for our day trip to Niagara Falls (which we did two days ago)
If I hadn't made this for the August challenge, I think I would have posted it in the "Trash to Treasures" thread because everything that I used for this was leftover from (or used to be) something else. I made myself a tote bag.
It started life as a skirt that was handed down to my children but neither one liked it. I liked the fabric, so I saved it.

Other material used were, scraps from some curtains I made (handles and pocket lining), an old pillow case (the inside of the bag -or the white side if I wanted to reverse the bag, which I don't.) Interfacing left over from some project I can't remember. I did have to run out and buy thread part way through because I ran out, so I guess it wasn't
completely from salvaged materials.
I'm not a great seamstress, so I worked
really hard, measuring and cutting carefully and sewing as carefully as I could. I am impressed with myself for my topstitching.

Here is everything all spread out on the dining room table.

I very, very carefully lined up the handles to sew them on. This bag is reversible, so I had to do this step twice.

Here is the finished bag.
One side (the front, I guess):

The other side (the back?):

...and an action shot in the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls Canada.

I have no intention of reversing this bag so I never took a picture of it reversed. It would be white with funky multicoloured handles if I was to reverse it.
