Default An Amazing Painting

I was at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI Saturday. In the lobby was this beautiful painting. The picture below doesn't do it justice, but you can see what it looks like.

I was looking at it from about 30 feet away and my brother told me to go look at it up close. It's all done with small dots about the size of a pencil eraser. I couldn't see the dots from a distance.

I didn't notice the name of the artist, but it's on the painting. If anyone can read it, let me know and I'll add it to this post to give him or her credit. I'd also like to know so I can look online to find other paintings by this artist.

I have excellent eyesight, but I can't read the name. I tried zooming in on the picture, but just got a lot of pixels -go figure

It IS a really nice piece of art though. I wonder if you could email someone at the hospital to ask who created it?

Thanks for trying. I'll probably be going there again some time soon (but I hope not). I'll ask then, or I'll call. Thanks for the idea.

The little plaque under the picture says "Please Do Not Touch Painting". I was so busy looking at the painting that I didn't see the sign. I reached up and touched the painting and as soon as my finger touched the paint, someone yelled, "Don't touch the painting!!". Too late!

And there wasn't even a 'wet paint' sign.

I was able to make out that sign, just not the signature!

I hope you are able to figure this out.

I thought it was the dots from paper too. But when I touched it it felt more like paint and up close you can tell it's paint.

I think my brother said if you google 'pixel art' or something like that, there are artists who do this kind of work. I haven't looked it up yet.

He said they take a photograph and blow it up until you can see every pixel and they use paint or paper dots that match the colors of the enlarged pixels. Not sure I explained it right.

Dot Art. Actually it was started by the Aboriginal people. Just one of the techniques we had to learn in high school. I saved one of my daughter's and it's hanging in the living room to her dismay.

I'm afraid I don't know who the original artist is, but this kind of work exploded around the early '70's and was also considered pop art.

A very nice piece. I'd like to know who the artist is. Thanks for sharing!

I think this type of painting is called pointilism. There was an old fellow here who used to do this stuff, only he did sketches with a pencil. It was fun to watch him making dots in an ordered fashion.
