Art Slam portrait contest
Unfortunately I didn't win... oddly enough another person one that drew the same guy, only in her was a rough sketch of the pose he was making while painting another girl...
We had kind of an odd bit of round art going on... He was painting a girl, me and the other girl were drawing him, and my friend was drawing me, all at the same time.

That is a very good composition. I like the color surrounding the simple sketching of him. You are very good Fem. Don't let anyone tell you different girl! Win or lose, that's a good piece of work!
I've had pieces that have been in many shows, and then out of the blue, they get Best of Show! CrAzY.
This is one of them. Ties That Bind. Never got even a merit, until one show. That's all it takes. It's true...."in the eye of the beholder"....in our case, in the eye of a Show Judge. Never know.

Thank you.
That picture is awesome, graphite or charcoal?
I'm no good with anything relating to feet in general... especially from the front... foreshortening and all that annoying stuff... most of my shoes look like I painted the characters foot and added a sole.

You made me grin Fem.
It's with the colored pencil, sepia. You know, like the old timey pics. I like graphite, but I wanted to get into color. But, this piece called for only one color, sepia.
I admire what you can do digitically. It's really the new age and all the rage.
How did you do the piece above Fem? Was it all digital on the computer? Or just mixed media?

well the figure was done with water color pencils and black chalk pastels, but the back ground was down with a fun photoshop splatter brush that I had set to change color and hue, as it scattered all over the picture in the area that I'd selected around my picture then I just applied a radial blur while the area was still selected so that it wouldn't go over my drawing
Photoshop's not really that hard to work with once you get use to it
It's Corel that leaves me pulling my hair out.
Though I did color this with the Corel program http://femerithian.deviantart.com/ar...-Boy-155216243

yeah he knew... well especially when every body that was there for the free food started making a big deal about how great I was drawing him
though being the joker that he is he made a big deal about it all.
