Default Time Over Matter

Well, I've gotten a good start on my art collage piece. It's only in the early stages, but I thought I'd share what I had with you all.

The piece will hang behind me at work. As you all know, I work at a high school, and I share some of my work with folks, but not with our students. I thought this would be a great way to share my artwork when students come to my office. I don't get out much because my job requires computer data mostly. Also, my office has my old clock that I thought would be trash, but was saved by my friend, the maintenance guy.

So, here we go. Since I hate throwing away something I can use, I've painted the back ground with two paints that I used for my living room. Most of the pieces I'm using are either copied or things like lace, buttons, rosettes, cloth scraps, old card stock, stencils, ..etc, etc. that I have aquired over the years. The canvas is my most recent purchase and it costed alittle over $50.

I've never done a collage, so I might need some most needed help from my friends at Craftforum. Please note that these pieces could change, be moved, replaced, or done away with, depending on how my "art mood" strikes me.

As my loving husband of 30 yrs says, "It's nice dear. As you know, I'm no art critic, but if you say this is art, then it's art." And then it's always the added, "Artists are weirdos. I guess I can sell this and make a fortune when you die." Ya just gotta love him.

I really like how your layering it, I can see the paint, I can see the cardstock, and I can see the flowers & bows-I like these they gently pop out to me.
Can't wait to see more

It's looking good. I like the elements as well.

I think it needs a really big cancelled stamp. That's just my weird artist opinion.

That's good to know Jess. When you are working on an art project like this or beginning one, you come up with so many ideas to add. And I will be adding some more things that will pop out but not distract...hopefully.

I was thinking more of "Return to Sender"

You know how you like something and before you dig in, you want to take a picture of it? Well, that was me this morning. I thought, I want to take a pic of my beginning palette. So, here it is....

Thank you Angela. Right now I'm playing paper dolls. No lie. Can't wait for you all to see my dressed up paper dolls!

I have my swatches of material and cardstock picked out. I went through my batch of stuff on hand and I think I can throw everything on there and it will go together with my theme.

I think I'm going to go ahead and glue down the large cardstock pieces and work from there.

Well I must say that is definitely very cool!

I like those two old maps of the world you have there...we have what looks like the same thing but on a mirror.

I think everyone got one in the mail!
