Hi Everybody,

Since I was nominated (Thanks Downrightart.. hehehe) to get the 2011 Christmas ornament swap rollin', I thought I'd ask who would like to be included. If there is enough interest, then we'll set up guidelines, etc. Sound good? I know its still kinda early, but the fat man in the red suit waits for no one!! He will be here before you know it! lol I thought it wouldn't hurt to have extra time to get ornaments done, especially if there is alot of ppl who want to be in on this.

Pretty much how this works is anyone who wants to participate gets their name on a list. You make an ornament and send it to each name on the list. So if there are twelve people on the list, you make twelve ornaments and send out. In return, those twelve people on the list should each send an ornament to you. We'll each get lots of different ornaments for our trees, mantles, or whatever you decorate in your home.

I didn't get in on the ornament swap last year, so if anyone who did participate wants to offer some advice on what worked, what didn't work, it would be appreciated.

I'll give a definite answer by the deadline. The only thing I can see that will keep me out is (ironically) too much interest. If it is going to cost a small fortune to mail them out I won't join.

What would discourage flakers? Post counts? Comments on posts that are not just posts that we started ourselves? Being a member for a certain amount of time? I don't know..... But it is disappointing to expect something and not receive it.

I'm going to think positive. I'll join! I already have my ornament idea this year! I'm very excited.

As Angela mentioned, stuff does happen. I've seen it and experienced it. Not in that I didn't receive a gift, but I was to be an angel....and well, my dag gum halo fell off! But, I hope to do better the next time I'm asked.

Trud, we might want to set some guidelines on newbies. How about those that have been an active poster for a year and has atleast 50 posts? Will that work? Any other suggestions?

Good points, Angela. Understandable about the postage. Also good point about the flakers. How about this swap being open only to people who have been a member for six months or longer? Is that fair? And if we do get a super massive number of people interested, we could always split the group into two groups. Everyone's input is welcome.

I won't be a member for a year until November...... haha How about we make it an active member for eight months with forty posts? I don't want to get too picky, but I don't want people investing themselves in this and then not receiving their ornaments in return.

I would love to participate! I'll have to come up with a new ornament idea though. I, too, am tight on cash, but hopefully I'll still be able to participate. I'll give a definite yea or nay by the deadline.

I guess by "ornament" it would just be any handmade "ornamental" item. It doesn't neccesarily have to hang on a tree. I remember from the thread last year that some of you don't have a tree, but decorate your mantles, etc. instead.
