Cuttlebug/Cricut + fabric

Finally got a chance to try my Cricut on fabric. Didn't go as easily as I though with the size of images I was cutting. The cuttlebug (using Sizzix dies) worked much better. The fabric pulled on the Cricut too much. Maybe with a less flexible fabric it might work better.

Off to read bc cutting fabric appliques is WHY I bought the darn cricut and I can NOT for the life of me get it to wokr. Ive tried EVERY which way possible. Now Ive used my cricut plenty dont get me wrong but Im peeved I cant get it to cut fabric!!!

I also bought the cricut mainly for cutting fabric. I tried cutting fabric once, it didn't work, but I was trying to cut a knit... I did the heat bond and even taped down all the edges, but it just pulled all over the place. After some research I think I'll try starching my fabric until it's REALLy stiff and then put it through, but I haven't gotten around to buying starch.

I tried the starch. Didnt work still.

I even resorted to using the cricut colors and DRAWING the design on the back of the fabric on the heat n bond and just cutting it by hand. Course this is risky when drawing LETTERS. You end up with backwards letters if you dont do it right!

I too am hoping to cut fabric... I've read that there are two things that really help. Wonder Under and/or ironing on freezer paper. I'm hoping to try soon! Has anyone else tried them?

I did not like the wonder under. If didn't hold up well at all. I used Steam a Seam 2 the other time and it's much better IMO. Better seal.

mlm, I talked to my neighbor today. She works at Michael's and does all of the demonstrations with the Cricut and answers customer questions.

She thought it would cut fabric better if you adjust the blade and use a faster speed. But she said the most important thing would be to use a new blade that has never cut paper before. I guess paper dulls the blades just like it does scissors.

That's all she could think of to try, so I hope that helps (by now, you've probably already tried all of those things, huh?)

Sigh. Yup. I used a brand new blade..both types....new mats and all.
