Also if you have a Michaels or Joanns in your area, be aware of the coupons, that is the way to go to get supplies, eventually you´ll develop your own style and be more aware of your needs. My favorite brands of paper (currently) are
K&Co: The paper is a great quality and the patterns are so yummy.
DCWV: I have almost everyline they have, is a really thick paper almost cardstock like and most comes with some sort of flocking, glitter or embossing, is really cute.
Sassafrass Lass: they have really vintagey prints but super cute!
Graphic 45: Same awesome vintage paper
Basic Grey: Tons of people love it, to me is ok but just that.

Cardstock: People loooove bazzill, is really nice quality and has different textures. I use American Crafts and DCWV.

Also start gathering things you dont even know u would use in scrapbooking: buttons, ribbons, lace, panflets, postcards, everything is potencial embellishment.

For tools I loooove Fiskars, all my trimmers are fiskars as are my scissors, punches too, specially the squeeze punches.

Have fun is an awesome hobbie, in no time you´ll be full of supplies and complaining that you can´t possibly use everything this lifetime, lol, don´t worry is normal...we all do!

Default Where to start....

Suz...Since I do Stampin' and Scrappin' and Craftin' as a hobby and a business....I love using the Stampin' Up! Simply Scrappin' Kits....I had some time this afternoon, and since I have tons of old kits leftover from classes I've taught...I used one of them up...did 7 pages, a card and a mini album for my grandaughter.....pretty good or 3 hours worth of work....You can check out my Blog and web page for more info....

Hi Suz,

One way to get started is to try contacting your local Stampin' Up! demonstrator and see if she holds classes on scrapbooking.

Some demonstrators hold classes for folks who would like to get started, but don't know where to start. For example, you can make 2-4 pages of 12 x 12 layouts with the supplies all cut for you. The classes are usually themed to the time of year that they are held.

Hope this helps

Chris
