Default Cross-Stitching

Hi everyone! I am new to Craft Forum....one of my favorite hobbies is cross-stitching. Its very hard to find cross-stitching fans out there! It is a wonderful but time-consuming hobby but it has been meaningful to me for many years. I first learned to cross-stitch when I was 17. Throughout the years I have turned to this craft again and again. Sometimes it takes months for me to finish one small project...other times I fly right through several. Seven years ago, when I was 38 years old, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthristis. I currently take Remicaid infusions to keep the disease under control. I want to use my hands all that I can, while I can! I was wondering if there are any other cross-stitchers out there in the craft forum. I would love to know more about you!

Hello. Yes, I am a cross stitch fan. I have recently been trying my hand at it and it is fun. I have not tried any big projects yet. Just some little 4x4 ones. My aunt recently gave me a large box of floss because she cannot use it anymore because of her carpal tunnel. Now I just need to get some patterns and some cloth and then I can really sit down and create something larger and colorful. I am looking forward to many hours of fun and relaxation with cross stitching.

I bet the beads are beautiful! How did you start doing that? I would like to learn!

Anonymous76, you can get some great free patterns online. I don't know if you have tried to look for any yet...but as you search, you will find that many sites give you a free pattern (or more than one) each month. You can easily print it off and use it and keep it for future projects.

My favorite thing to stitch is samplers. I think they are so traditional...and they remind me of the way young girls learned to stitch many years ago. I hope cross-stitching will become popular again, like quilting has lately.

I love to cross-stitch! I haven't worked on one in quite a long time - it's taken a back seat to quilting lately. I really should get started on a new project though! Some of my finished cross-stitches:

I like country style cross-stitch best. The 2 ones above are Jeremiah Junction patterns.

I learned when I was around..16ish? At church. I started a small winnie the pooh design from a kit in..hmm... early 04?! LOL! Still not done! I'll go over a year without touching it then work on it several times in a week or so. I remember I started it before my niece was born and she's 5.5 now. Sigh. I really should get that sucker done.
