Default my first attempts at embroidery:

Hello all! I decided I was going to teach myself to embroider while I was at work! I am working a job where it is a lot of down time and they are all for us doing anything to keep us sane! So I am trying to learn!
Also ignore the marks. I drew my pattern in sharpie just so I could see a little better! Its just some cheap fabric and cheap thread, and I really didnt think any of this would be frame quality or something I would want to display!
I am all for any suggestions and if anyone knows of a great site for some tutorials it would be great!
Sorry I only have crappy phone pics!

Playing with stitches and my name

I really didnt like how the big spots turned out in this! Still needs some work!

This one I actually really like how it turned out and may actually re do it on a towel for the bathroom!

Thanks for looking!

Hey, Jordy!

It looks good, very good and by practicing you will make it even better! I would be more than happy to give you some points : make sure that the "wrong side" of the embroidery/item you apply the embroidery on looks as good as the "right side". If you apply it on some towels, for example, you want both sides to look good, don't you?
Then, I would encourage you to use pre-painted patterns to get used to colour combinations, and don't be affraid to be "out of the box".

I hope it helps,

I love your design choices- and I think those are super fun! I would second what anavamun said- when you "move" thread, slip it under the other stitches on the back and "lead' the thread around to the next start area, or tie it off and start again- then you won't have the long threads on the back or showing through the front- this is important for items that will be washed/worn etc esp, since those are easy "snag" points and if they get caught on something can break or pull out your design. Which would be such a super sad thing!

I think they look really nice. I like the colors you used.

Good for you Jordi! Looks great! I've done alittle bit of that too. I'm laughing because that's all I do! Alittle bit of this and that and have not mastered a thing!

Are you gals talking about me? Because that's what I am, too. I know a little bit of this and that, but has not done anything right.
