Default Can you help me with "Wonka" party ideas?

I wasn't sure if this should be in General, Off Topic or in here... I hope everyone finds this thread!!!

My daughter's 12th birthday is coming up and we are planning to do a Wonka theme for her party. I need ideas for activities. Especially if they are activities that the kids can have something to bring home. We have decided that the invitations will be golden tickets. And there will be lots of candy. I bought a bag of Wonka candy at Halloween and saved it for this. I was thinking of having the kids make chocolate lollipops as an activity, but now I am wondering if that will just result in a giant mess.....
I'm going to have the kids sign a big contract when they come in.
They will enter through a curtain of streamers.
Beanbag tosses are always a big hit at my kids' parties (and the bean bags end up being a party favour) but I can't think of what the bags should be and what they should be tossed into.
I was thinking of some version of pin the tail on the donkey, but again, I am at a loss.....
I might get a friend to draw an oompa-loompa onto a piece of bristol board and cut the face out and have the kids poke their faces through and take a picture. I'd use this photo as the thank you. Or I might take a picture with the DSi like that (the quality wouldn't be as good, but it would be easier!)
The party will be mid-afternoon, so the only food will be a little bit of treats and cake.

Does anyone else have any ideas? "Hot potato" games are no fun for this group anymore. Everyone will be 10-13. I don't really do prizes, but I think I'll get a few (like two per kid) mini chocolate bars and make Wonka/party labels and use them as prizes. Maybe. Somehow, each child will "win" two.

Thanks for your help

Hmmmm, for some reason, a big blue excercise ball comes to mind... Could you make some kind of pinafore that holds the ball on the player? They could do the pinning of the faces with their "Violet tummy"? (use something sticky like double sided tape, but put weaker stuff on the side that touches the ball so it comes off...)No hands allowed? Or maybe you could put some washable paint on the ball and they have to "stamp" a blue blob onto an Oompa Loompa's face?

For bean bags, could they be Wonka bars or chocolate chunks? Or another type of candy? Could you fill them with candy and not reveal that until the end of the party to eliminate the hyper factor? Maybe close them with well-hidden velcro?

I can't think of anything else...

depending on how much abuse they will be getting the bean bags could be jellybean bags. Openable in some way so the kids had that kind of prize. They could play chubby bunnies or have some sort of burping contest (you know, when charlie and his gpa had to figure out how to get back to the ground)

A burping contest could be funny!
What is chubby bunnies?

Beanbags have gotten pretty abused in the past.... Too bad because I like the jellybean idea.

I don't have an excercise ball, but I was thinking of (getting help with) making a round cake and having a doll head and arms sticking out of it. Oh, and icing it purple/blue.

Hardwood floors and bubbles are not a good mix. She might end up breaking her wrists again!

yeah...finishing my message would of been a nice idea. Anyways, have you tried the wonka party section of this website yet?

Kimber, you make me laugh! I only posted it this morning.
Yeah, I have looked at that site a little. I found the cake idea in there somewhere. I'll go through it a little more thoroughly now.

I'm thinking that the beanbags will just be jellybean shaped. Super easy, but will look good.... What to throw them into though.... character faces with big, opened mouths? Sounds too complicated......

Good thing I have some time still!

All right ..I have been thinking about the whole bean bag toss situation and I was wondering if you only wanted it Willy Wonka specific or if Charlie and the chocolate factory ideas were welcome too

if so you could do a nut toss and make a cool swirly funnel like in the movie (I would just cut a galloon water jug and flip it upside down maybe..or instead a play on the golden egg idea using cadbury easter eggs ..maybe that egg on a spoon relay thing..idk ..make a bad egg chute they can drop the eggs into...thats probably more work than your willing to do.

I remember reading on the wonka bday board a long time ago and a parent actually made lickable wall paper out of melted jelly ranchers and wax paper..isnt that crazy? so impressive. whats not so impressive is that I think I already mentioned this on an earlier thread. sorry.

You could do a chocolate fountain with marshmellows etc to go with
the chocolate waterfall theme...

you could even make up your own fizzy lifting drink recipe as one of the snacks.

Willy Wonka/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.... All the same in this case (I prefer the old movie, she prefers the new one LOL! Same book though) All ideas are good ideas.

I read about the lickable wallpaper too and THAT is more work than I care to do. Plus we have a dog. A big one who would undoubtedly beat the kids to it

I like the Bad Egg relay race idea! I may do something like that.

I think a lot of the ideas on that party site are from people who don't mind spending hundreds of dollars on a party. In our house a party is pretty much one of their gifts so we keep them as inexpensive as possible.

I think a chocolate fountain would be amazingly cool, but I don't have one. I have a fondue pot though........
