I made the frosting last night and I'm just getting ready to start making them.

Wish me luck.

Next year I'm going to buy a kit too. I'll still let the kids do their small ones to take home though. But I think it would be more fun to do a full sized house.

How did yours turn out?

No need to answer that question, I just saw the picture you posted.

That is so cute! I love the way you did the roof and how the frosting looks like snow on the ground around the house.

Nice job!

Most of the kids' teeth have fallen out and they've stopped climbing the walls. The massive doses of sugar should be out of their blood stream by Valentine's Day or at the very latest, Easter.

Here are a few pics.

First I draw a rectangle on the plate with the frosting to stand the crackers up in. This also keeps the house from sliding off the plate when it's picked up. Then I stand one long and one short cracker up and glue the ends together. The last two walls are attached.

The frosting holding the walls together has to dry for about a half-hour before the roof goes on or the walls will collapse. Then a line of frosting on the tops of the two long walls and the roof can go on.

Most of the roofs are a little uneven, but it doesn't seem to bring down the value of the house. lol

The kids put their own frosting in the spots where they want the candy, if they're old enough. The smaller tykes just point to where they want me to put the frosting.

After they put two pieces of candy on the house, one has to go in their mouth. It's a federal law or a law of nature, or something like that.

All done!

Here's a house that was made by a kid-at-heart (while the other kiddies weren't around).

This is a sled made with pretzel sticks and mini candy canes

The chimney was made with a green licorice 'Snaps'. The smoke is a miniature marshmallow that's been squished and rolled.

Wow! I'm still awestruck by all the candies on the table in the first batch of pictures!

Eating the candies during the making of the house is called "Quality Control Testing" in my house. We do A LOT of quality control testing here when we bake anything

I'll bet the kids have a lot of fun at your place Those are great

Thanks! It's been fun over the years seeing how different each of the kids make their houses. For a few years I had kids that were in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Boy were they creative.

I'll see if I can find any of those pictures. One little guy built a lean-to on the side of the house with a graham cracker roof and candy cane posts to hold it up.

Of course, the other kids teased him for not adding gutters and a down spout .
