A phone call. And a card, if I remember to send one this year. I fogot completely about it last year! When I apologized (during my Mother's Day phone call) she hadn't even noticed!!!!!

At her request, we stopped with Mother's Day gifts a long time ago.

(I totally expect something from my kids and husband though! )

Hubby usually gets his mom a plant, but since they will be leaving the province for several months shortly after Mother's Day, I don't know what he'll do. I'll bet he makes a nice dinner for everyone. (His parent live in our house when they are in this province)

I'm thinking about making up some flower pots to set in between her garage doors.

If not that, then a couple of those plastic Aderondack (sp?) chairs to put on her front porch.

Her birthday is in May also, so sometimes, if there's something expensive that all of us (brothers, sisters) think she needs or would like, we'll all go in on it and give her one nice gift for a combined Mother's Day/birthday gift. For Christmas we all went in on a big screen tv for her. It seems to work better than all of us buying a lot of little things.

We all kind of pay attention throughout the year to find out what she could use. If we ASK her, she always say, "Oh, I don't need anything." lol

Mom only wants the whole family there. And since we all live within 25 miles of her, we tend to go to her. But, sometimes we have had a cook out to where my husband does the cooking here at our home. We might do that this year.

Oh, I'm going to surprise her with patriotic placemats! I can't start on it yet because she is coming over Monday to help me in my yard. I try and spend a good bit of time with my mother and working together making things is a relaxing time for us.

I didn't have time to make the placemats. So I got a gift card to JoAnn's for my mom and for the Boss's mom I purchased a gift card to Lowes. I know they will use them!
