Default Birthday Hat

DDs 1st birthdays is coming up and I am making her a cloth birthday hat (as apposed to paper) to match her birthday outfit. I found a pretty good tutorial from I Make Stuff:

http://imakestuff.typepad.com/i-make...-tutorial.html

But I wanted to see if anyone else has done this and they have any other ideas, suggestions, patterns, pictures etc!

Thanks!

That is so cute!
I admit that I didn't read the tutorial, I just looked at the pictures.
If possible (and maybe this is already part of the hat....) I'd make the age removable so that you can keep the hat and change the age every year.
I can TOTALLY see both of my kids wearing one of these on their birthdays (11 & 16) I think that the older one would proudly wear it around school all day. Too bad her birthday was less than a month ago, I'd test that theory.

Thats really cute! I love the idea of a fabric hat opposed to a paper one so it wont get ripped so easily by little hands and removable numbers is an awesome idea. I made one for my baby sis a few years ago and she loved it and it was so simple to make

How cute! I am totally making these for my kids. Well my oldest is turning 14 on Saturday, and I don't know if he will be a good sport, but the baby boy and my 2 girls definitely will

Thank you for sharing!

These are so expensive in stores, I might have to make one for my DS turning 1 soon!

Very cute! Like pp said, make the number removable. It wouldn't take anything to sew on a small piece of velcro so that you can change the number each year.
