These were inspired by some giant hibiscus flowers I saw in a craft store. They were beautifully constructed out of wire and netting. They were also $25 - each! So I set about making my own version from kitchen foil, tissue paper and glue. Here are the results. Not as flash as the store bought version, but substantially cheaper...plus, we had fun making them.
