Default My grandchildren's "art"

Here's some of the crafts that my grandchildren did while they were visiting. The boy is eight, the girl is six.

The dolls that they worked on for a few days, a little at a time. These were made entirely from circles of paper cut from old catalogs.

The boy's doll

The girl's doll

The girl's painted birdhouse

and her wooden shopping bag

The boy's birdhouse

And his wooden shopping bag, painted entirely with magic markers.

I know this isn't great art, but they worked hard and I promised I'd post their pics. They are going home tomorrow.

Those dolls are pretty cool! I like the birdhouses and shopping bags! It's really great that they were able to do some crafts while visiting! Very nice and they'll keep these things a long time!

They did a great job on all of it!

How did they do the paper dolls? Those look really cool!

Yes it is!

The wooden shopping bags are really neat! I like those a lot! Do you know exactly what the kids plan to do with them? Besides bring their dolls and birdhouses home in them?

They are leaving the birdhouses with us. The shopping bags are going home with them. They have their little trinkets in them.

As for the dolls, they cut circles, I poked holes in them, they wadded them up to crinkle them, and then fed them onto fishline. I tied beads onto the fishline to keep everything from falling off. One long strand for the legs. One long strand for the arms. And one long strand going up the middle to tie everything together. It was pretty simple. I was using the idea of the yo-yo dolls, only with scrap materials.

Yeah, his shopping bag looks like a throwback to the 60's. I don't know where he got the idea, but I loved it.
