  Paper Backdrop/Banner
Hello crafters,

I was asked to make a large backdrop for a skit about the signing of the Declaration of Independence. So, just in case any of you need some tips, I will share how I did it.

It is 6 feet by 13 feet. It can be held in the air by two people.

It was very inexpensive.

*I used blank newspaper. You can buy a left over/tail end roll at the newspaper office.

*I rolled out four 13 ft long sheets (overlapping the long edges) and scotch taped them together along the seams every here and there. This made it easier the the next step.

*Then I used wide clear cello tape (the kind for packages) and taped again... going all along each seam AND the top sides and bottom of my backdrop. This made it more sturdy. All tape was on the backside.

*I used watercolors for the picture and painted on the side that has no tape (of course).

*Now it is ready to go Just fold in half lengthwise and roll up on a wrapping paper tube for transport. May get a few wrinkles when I roll it, but it will be light weight and not bulky.

Picture Needlecrafts
I began to needle craft when I was 5 years old. I like it because I can work on my projects most anywhere. Even when my days are super busy with appointments and social activities, I can easily fit in some "stitching time". It's a great way to create loving/personal gifts for others :)

Picture Sally Vidalin's Monet watercolor
I love art. In January I decided to join in on a watercolor challenge. We were asked to "Recreate a Monet Oil Painting in Watercolor" I chose WOMAN WITH A PARASOL TURNED TO THE RIGHT. Monet painted it in 1886, when he was nearly blind. Here is my finished entry and I am so happy with how it turned out. Hope you enjoy looking at it. [Click on the picture to make it big]
